🐝 Why are bees important for humanity?
Bees are the most important pollinators, directly or indirectly affecting over 70% of global agricultural production.
They’re essential for the survival of many wild plants – without them, biodiversity would dramatically decrease.
They have a direct impact on food security: the collapse of bee populations would have serious consequences for human nutrition.
Over the past decades, bee populations have been declining alarmingly due to disease, pesticides, habitat loss, and climate change.
📡 Smart Hive – Digital Beehive Monitoring System
Using modern technology, we’ve developed a system that enables real-time remote monitoring of hive conditions. It helps preserve bee health and significantly supports the beekeeper’s work.
🔍 Key features of the system:
1. Internal temperature monitoring
A sensor placed inside the hive continuously measures the temperature.
2. Hive weight measurement
The system monitors the total weight of the hive, giving a clear picture of honey accumulation.
Helps the beekeeper decide when it’s the ideal time to harvest.
3. Bee traffic monitoring
Sensors at the hive entrance count bees flying in and out.
This allows monitoring of population changes, which can indicate disease or losses early.
4. Real-time cloud data transmission
The system sends data to the cloud, and the beekeeper can access it anytime via smartphone or computer.
It sends alerts when suspicious changes are detected.
5. Early disease detection
If fewer bees return in the evening than flew out in the morning, the system sends an immediate alert.
This allows the beekeeper to intervene before major losses occur.
🧑🌾 Why is this useful for beekeepers?
Early problem detection prevents the loss of entire colonies.
Less stress for bees – no need for manual hive inspections.
More efficient work – data supports smarter timing of interventions and harvesting.
Scalable solution – especially useful for large-scale apiaries with dozens or hundreds of hives.
🔧 Development status – prototype already operational
The first version of the system is already running in test environments on real hives.
Early results are promising: the system gives accurate, reliable feedback on hive conditions.
Our goal is to attract additional funding this year to finalize and launch the product.
We aim to provide every beekeeper with a dependable, user-friendly tool for protecting bees and modernizing beekeeping.
